The Opportunity

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Mechanical / Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing MEP team based in our Plymouth office.

It’s a fantastic time to become part of Stantec’s MEP division! Our engineers are experts in creating high-performing, sustainable environments. We work across all major sectors—from commercial and residential to heritage and industrial—delivering intelligent design that enhances the built environment and supports our clients’ net-zero ambitions.

Our Plymouth office offers a dynamic base for delivering transformative projects across the UK and beyond. From this location, we’ve played a pivotal role in some of the UK’s most forward-thinking infrastructure and development projects.

Some of our notable achievements include work on large-scale energy transmission projects, such as housing complex conversion equipment for new high-voltage direct current converter stations to transmit emission-free electricity. We also led the refurbishment and new-build extension of the Civic Centre in Trowbridge, modernizing the space while preserving its historical significance. Similarly, the Atlantic Village extension in Bideford showcases our ability to deliver large-scale retail and mixed-use developments, increasing the shopping center’s size by 70 percent.

You’ll be joining a highly motivated and collaborative team of engineers who are passionate about delivering sustainable, innovative solutions and who genuinely enjoy what they do.

You will lead the day-to-day technical delivery of mechanical design services on multi-disciplinary building projects. You will oversee the production of high-quality design deliverables, including specifications, drawings, and schedules.

You will support the commercial success of your projects through timely invoicing, WIP management, and workload/resource planning. You will mentor junior team members, including graduates and apprentices, and play a key role in their career development.

At Stantec, we place a strong emphasis on personal development, work-life balance, and supporting our people to thrive. In Plymouth, you’ll be part of a growing, close-knit office with the full backing and resources of a global consultancy.
