Your Opportunity 

We are looking for a proven Corporate Marketing & Communications Leader with global experience to join our passionate, collaborative, and results-driven team. This global role reports to the Chief Corporate Services Officer and is responsible for developing and executing our marketing and communications strategy.  This includes overseeing our brand, public relations, advertising, digital content marketing, and internal and external communications, with a focus on promoting our expertise and reputation in the industry to enable the growth of our business.  This role partners closely with business leaders across geographic regions, lines of business, customer segments, and sectors to design programs and initiatives that strengthens our brand globally. 

At Stantec, we value a hybrid work environment that combines in-person collaboration with remote flexibility. As a people leader, this role will be expected to be in the office, on average, three days a week.

Key Responsibilities  

Marketing & Communications Strategy

  • Build relationships and collaborate with various levels of leadership and stakeholders to develop and implement a bold, comprehensive strategy that supports Stantec’s goals and objectives, and promotes our expertise
  • Within the Company-wide Strategy:
* Set the marketing strategy and oversee all marketing processes to establish brand identity and brand loyalty and support our growth strategy
* Set the direction for the Company’s public relations efforts, including media relations and crisis communications, with a focus on promoting the company's reputation as a leader in the engineering industry.
* Set the internal communication strategy to strengthen our employee community, amplify the voice of our leadership, enhance pride in our projects and achievements, and galvanize all team members around shared values, mission, and vision.
* Set the digital content marketing strategy that ensures the Company boldly accelerates the use of digital channels to drive brand awareness, improve search engine rankings and generate audience interest.
 
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the business and structure as well as the position in the marketplace in order to support positioning for the future.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that communications efforts are aligned with our overall strategy and support our business development efforts.
  • Oversee the Company's brand and ensure consistency across all marketing and communications materials including brand materials and their distribution.

Operational Accountabilities 

This role is accountable for the effectiveness and alignment of a broad range of communication functions. Specific operational accountabilities include:

  • Provide expert guidance to the CEO and C-suite leaders on all MCPR matters, including CEO and C-suite executives’ internal and external communications.
  • Lead the design, delivery, administration and continuous improvement of the organization’s practices in:
* Branding 
* Public Relations
* Digital content marketing
* Internal communications
* External communications 
 
  • Bring increased global alignment across all MCPR practices through shared goals, processes, tools and technology.
  • Set and manage all related budgets and resources, delivering cost deliver cost-effective solutions while ensuring impactful programs.
  • Establish, manage and evolve partnerships with external partners/vendors/consultants.
  • Deliver regular KPI/metrics reporting with accompanying insights. 

Lead Stantec’s Marketing & Communications Team

  • Lead, develop and engage a team of marketing, communications, and public relations subject matter experts.
  • Set key performance goals for team members for individual development and contribution to the organization’s success, aligning within the MCPR organization.
  • Provide guidance regarding execution of global strategy, leading and integrating with cross-functional internal teams. 
  • Enhance communication between various team members and internal clients to promote a positive and productive work environment.
  • Develop outstanding internal relationships to deliver a growth-focused experience.  

Capabilities and Credentials 

  • Track record of developing and implementing bold, long-term strategies for brand growth and market positioning for large global B2B organizations.
  • Skilled in analyzing market trends and client behaviour to inform marketing strategies.
  • Digitally fluent; is up-to-date with digital marketing trends and technologies.
  • Demonstrates creative excellence through innovation and ability to drive creative marketing strategies; serves as a catalyst for visionary thinking across MCPR practices.
  • Stays highly attuned to trends and best practices in the engineering industry and incorporates them into the company's Marketing & Communications efforts.
  • Comprehensive ability to communicate, influence, and persuade with all levels within an organization and with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency and strong client focus.
  • Excellent judgement and critical thinking skills, including using good business sense and organizational values to make decisions involving varying levels of risk and ambiguity.
  • Collaborative influencer with strong consultative skills, excellent stakeholder management and listening skills.
  • Superior organization skills, ability to effectively multi-task and attention to details are critical.
  • Dynamic, adaptable to change and enjoys working in a challenging and collaborative environment.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.

  • Experience successfully leading a geographically dispersed team and working in a hybrid work environment.  
Education and Experience 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations or a related field is required, along with a sustained track record of strategic leadership in marketing, communications, and public relations within large complex organizations.
  • Experience in operating at executive level, advising C-suite stakeholders, and leading high-impacts cross functional initiatives. - The ability to shape and execute long-term strategies that drive measurable business outcomes and brand growth.
  •  Professional Certification preferred such as PCM or equivalent. 
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
