The Opportunity

Do you have a passion for transport and the roads that link our cities? Are you up to the challenges we face to balance the social benefits roads provide with our requirement to reduce our impact on the environment? Can you innovate and develop the designs we need to solve these challenges? Then come join our team!

Stantec have ambitious growth plans and our portfolio of work is expanding. We’re now looking for a Senior / Principal Civil Engineer with particular expertise in surface water drainage to join our growing transport infrastructure team in Scotland to deliver quality projects for our public and private sector clients.

You will be responsible for all aspects of drainage delivery within the team. The role requires hands on project delivery, developing the drainage capability of fellow engineers and be our key drainage contact on multi-disciplinary projects and prospects.  We also work with and support teams across the UK to deliver schemes for a variety of clients.

We have Scottish offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, situated in the heart of both cities. We offer a welcoming environment to work in and offer hybrid and flexible working options.

About You

You will hold a Civil Engineering Degree and will ideally be Chartered or working towards Chartered status. You will have expertise in surface water drainage for roads, active travel and development infrastructure and have delivered multi-disciplinary projects for the entire lifecycle – from concept, feasibility and planning through to detailed design and delivery. You will have experience in the application of the DMRB, local road and water authority standards, CDM and BIM as well as knowledge of AutoDesk InfoDrainage and Civil 3D. Experience in foul drainage design would be preferable.

You will utilise your previous experience to develop the drainage knowledge within the wider team, mentoring other civil engineers through on the job training, checking work and providing feedback as well as identifying formal training needs for others. This also extends to keeping up to date with industry advances, best practice and evolving technical standards.

Your passion and experience of delivering quality infrastructure design solutions is key to your success in this role. You will be an excellent communicator, both within the business and externally, have an eye for detail and be pragmatic.  You will be enthusiastic, ambitious, forward thinking and have a desire to develop your career.
