Your role:

We are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to be based in Cambridge, joining our 2025 Graduate Programme.

Stantec are seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join a team in our Cambridge office specialising in flood risk management and river engineering projects.  In line with our Communities of Practice approach, there are also opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects including in water, wastewater, energy, and infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary infrastructure consultancy.

You will have the opportunity to be intricately involved from concept through to construction on a wide range of multi-disciplinary projects, including water level management pumping stations, drainage, rivers and abstraction infrastructure. You will provide Engineering support to our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of our projects.

We will provide you with an excellent working environment in our modern offices close to Cambridge rail station and a support network that will enable you to achieve your professional aspirations. We'll give you every opportunity to deliver high quality work and take your career to the next level.

If you're passionate about engineering for a sustainable future, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to impactful projects, we want to hear from you! Join us and make a splash in the world of water infrastructure.

About you:

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, and a keen interest in the water industry, we’d love to receive your application if you are:-

A Striver: Exhibiting ownership, consistently delivering on tasks and objectives. You’ll be motivated and proactive in your tasks, having the desire to make a real difference.

A Collaborator: You’ll love to work effectively with lots of different people at different levels, all inputting their part towards a shared goal.

A Planner: Organising and managing your own activities, dealing effectively with multiple priorities with a structured approach.

An Adapter: Able to remain calm in new situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.

A Multi-Tasker: Thinking about more than one task at a time, while still having an eye for detail.

A Problem-Solver: You’ll love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection and life assurance
  • Permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
  • Professional progression plan, supporting you to gain professional chartership
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment and Early Careers peer group and wider ERG network (see more on our ERGs here: Stantec Employee Resource Groups)

Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.

Please take a look at our Graduate FAQs (Graduate Application FAQs) if you have any questions. We look forward to receiving your application!

Interviews for this position are anticipated to take place in November 2024. Please note that this is a tentative schedule, and the exact dates may vary.
