We are currently seeking a Digital Engineering Lead to join our growing Digital Engineering team within the Energy & Resources business unit. This role will focus on leading the delivery of Digital Engineering (DE) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) solutions for complex Energy and Resources projects including Hydropower & Dams, Transmission & Distribution and Renewable, Waste & Generation projects, among others.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing digital strategies, overseeing project execution, ensuring ISO 19650 compliance, and driving innovation in digital project delivery.
The Digital Engineering Lead will oversee multiple projects, mentoring teams, and engaging with senior stakeholders and will focus on managing project-specific digital deliverables and supporting implementation across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead the digital delivery of major projects, ensuring alignment with ISO 19650, client requirements, and industry standards. Your role includes task delegation, resource planning, and managing teams to ensure high-quality outputs while mitigating risks across project phases. You will also contribute to the development of the organization’s digital strategy.
Serving as the primary client contact, you will communicate digital strategies and project goals effectively. You’ll develop and implement BIM requirements, processes, and protocols, building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and digital adoption.
You will define and implement project data requirements, establish information governance protocols, and ensure compliance with ISO 19650. Managing the transition from Project Information Model (PIM) to Asset Information Model (AIM) and overseeing information security will be key parts of your role.
In managing the Common Data Environment (CDE), you will ensure effective data storage and sharing, providing training on best practices. You’ll also guide the development of BIM Execution Plans (BEP), oversee model federation, and mentor teams on digital workflows.
Finally, you will drive innovation by implementing emerging technologies, automation, and advanced digital workflows, improving BIM processes and team efficiency.
About You
You must have extensive experience leading large-scale, complex projects while applying the ISO 19650 standard, particularly in fulfilling the Lead Appointed Party role. A deep understanding of ISO 19650 principles and their practical application is essential, as well as proven experience in developing and managing key project documents such as EIR, AIR, PIR, and BEP.
Proficiency with Autodesk tools such as Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Inventor, and ACC, along with model coordination platforms like Revizto, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Power BI, is crucial for success in this role. Additionally, you will be expected to lead the setup of Common Data Environments (CDE), manage model federation, and oversee clash detection workflows.
Strong stakeholder engagement and client-facing communication skills are essential, as you will be interacting regularly with clients and other stakeholders. Your ability to mentor and lead digital teams in a collaborative, fast-paced environment is critical to driving successful project outcomes.
While not essential, professional certifications in BIM/DE, such as BIM Certification or buildingSMART accreditation, would be highly beneficial. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, along with a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification, would be an added advantage.
