The Opportunity

Stantec has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Energy & Sustainability Consultant to join our dynamic Building Performance team in Reading.

Do you have a passion for sustainability? Are you up for the challenge of creating efficient buildings, heat networks and reduce operational energy which has social value and responds creatively to the needs of people, places and the environment?
We are currently seeking an Assistant Energy & Sustainability Consultant to join us. This is an opportunity to join a reputable group with a strong forward workload. We have been at the heart of the local communities all over the country for many years and are now looking at further expansion.
Our projects include a wide range of public and private opportunities nationally and internationally that include some significant developments, educational buildings, commercial and industrial properties and regeneration projects from small scale local schemes to larger national frameworks. We also help clients to reduce their scope 3 carbon emissions.
You will play an important role within our team. You will support creating energy models as well as production of sustainability and energy strategies to help our client make informed decisions about their buildings and energy systems. Your role will be varied and challenging, and you will have the opportunity to learn from the wider group and take your career to the next level.

About You

You will be degree qualified (BSc, BEng, MEng) in physics, geography, chemistry, building services engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent. An MSc in Sustainability, Energy, Environmental Management, Smart Buildings or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to translate conceptual ideas as well as highly detailed technical requirements into easily understandable technical solutions. You should be proactive in doing research and self-learning, and have a passion for data analysis and provide data driven solutions. Strong report writing and presentation skills is required.

A knowledge of Science Based Target Initiatives (SBTi) and an understanding of Sustainability assessment methods: BREEAM, NABERS UK or any other sustainability certification (e.g., Certified Passivhaus Designer) is welcome.
