Stantec’s UK Acoustic Team continues to be engaged in a wide range of technical work and to help continue the successful growth of the team and wider Stantec UK business, we are seeking an experienced consultant who will be a key part of the expansion of our capabilities.

We're interested in Senior/Principal Acousticians, ideally to be based in either our London, Bristol or Oxford offices (although other locations would be considered for the right candidate) alongside colleagues in the wider Environmental Services team and Stantec's’ Engineering, Buildings, Infrastructure, Transportation and Planning Teams. You would join the existing Stantec UK Acoustic team who operate across the UK and in Europe.

We are undertaking projects across sectors such as major infrastructure, residential schemes, energy & waste, regeneration, environmental & planning, and we are currently supporting some of the country’s most significant projects.

You will undertake, and where appropriate manage, the acoustic input to building and environmental engineering projects, liaising with clients, design team members and other stakeholders to identify project requirements. You’ll be a pro-active, ambitious, and a proven acoustic consultant, capable of demonstrating strong Project Management skills and a good working knowledge of British Standards and Regulations.  You’ll have an appetite to develop your own mentoring and leadership skills, whilst embracing new opportunities to expand your own skillset and experience. This role offers the opportunity to work in a truly multi-disciplinary environment, giving access to a wide range of exciting building and infrastructure projects in the UK.

You’ll be degree qualified in acoustics, however If your degree is not in acoustics, then you should hold a suitable acoustics qualification such as the IOA diploma or be able to demonstrate appropriate professional experience. You will be a member of the Institute of Acoustics

You will play your part in the technical development and growth of the acoustics team and have the necessary skills and experience to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders where you will be working closely with clients, and other professional staff across multi-disciplinary business groups.

Key responsibilities / Duties will include (dependent on level):

  • To provide technical and project team leadership for the production of noise impact assessments for a wide variety of project types
  • Writing acoustic reports to accompany planning applications and Environment Impact Assessments
  • Liaison with clients and key stakeholders
  • Technical supervision and mentoring of junior team members
  • Technical and commercial management of acoustic projects
  • Developing assessment techniques to reflect the requirement of emerging policy and guidance
  • Preparation of proposals for acoustic projects (including coordination of other technical services where appropriate)
  • Business development of acoustic services including maximising opportunities through existing Frameworks and support for the wider business on bids. 

Capabilities and Qualifications:

You will have a BEng, BSc or MSc in a relevant subject, or the equivalent level qualification or experience.

In addition, the candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent client focus and understanding of stakeholder requirements
  • Experience of working in a consultancy environment
  • Experience in managing and mentoring junior team members to enable them to progress
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to work alone and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Membership of the IOA
