Stantec is currently seeking a Associate/Principal Consultant to join our busy Flood and Water Management team. This position can be based out of our Reading office, but we are flexible on location for the right candidate. We can offer you a mix of home and office working which will help maintain a good work life balance and effective team working. We work as a national technical team and so there is an opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and fellow professionals across the UK.

Our work covers a wide range of sectors and technical disciplines and depending on your skills and interests you will be able to engage in projects ranging from policy and modelling based assessments through to the detailed design of flood management and river restoration schemes. However, our primary interest is for someone who can take the lead on complex land development projects providing strategic and detailed advice across the range of flood management issues.
 

Your main tasks will be providing support to our Director of Flood Risk and developing your role as a Principal Consultant delivering a client centred service to our key clients. The successful candidate will be able to take responsibility for the whole project lifecycle from initial enquiry through to successful delivery and manage other members of the team as well as wider relationships across the business. You will provide support to our production of flood risk assessments, drainage designs for all types and scales of development projects, liaise with the design teams and client representatives. You will be the face of our team at all levels and be able to deal with clients and external consultees. Your client and stakeholder liaison skills at all levels will be important.

ABOUT YOU

You will be BSc/BEng/MEng/MSc qualified and ideally be chartered (or nearly chartered) through a relevant institution ICE/CIWEM.

You will need to have extensive experience in flood risk and water management in a general sense, but we are particularly interested to talk to you if you have experience of:

  • Producing flood risk assessments
  • Design of sustainable drainage systems
  • Hydraulic modelling using Flood Modeller and TUFLOW
  • Drainage modelling using Microdrainage
  • River engineering, restoration/habitat improvement, flood alleviation schemes
